1.THE
SHIELD - Our vision. At Bethany, Christ was lovingly
anointed for His death as our Saviour. The colors
of resurrection, with the emblem of the cross,
represent the unveiling of Christ Jesus the Son;
crucified, risen, and exalted. He is our vision!
(John 12:1-11)
2. THE SWORD - Our ministry. At Bethany, Jesus taught them
and demonstrated the power of His resurrection.
This sword represents the dual ministry of
teaching the word and wielding God's delivering
and healing power as a demonstration of the
reality of Christ's resurrection in these last
days. (Obadiah 21, Rev.12:1-11, and John 11)
3. THE DOVE AND FIRE - Our enablement. Jesus said, "Tarry here
till ye be endued with power from on high."
The dove and fire, the two symbols of the Spirit,
represents the Spirit's abiding ministry,
presence, and power in us as our equiping to
become all God wants us to be and do. The wonder of the Gospel is that God comes to live His life
inside us. We are His habitation in which He lives to impart His love, power, and nature. (Luke
24:49,50; Eph.2:21,22; Col.1:26,27)
4. THE SHIELD AND SWORD - Our attitude. As symbols of militancy, they
represent our desire to embody the Spirit's
passion to accomplish God's will and work in and
through us. They picture this church as a
"Joshua" generation who give
themselves, in the Spirit's power, to secure the
Lord's inheritance in the earth and bring about
the ultimate overthrow of satan's dominion.
(Revelation 12:11)
5. THE GLOBE - Our mission and
work. Jesus led
the disciples out as far as to Bethany, and
there, gave them the great commission to make
disciples of all nations. This globe represents
our commitment to that call to LOVE the souls of
men, and see them saved and matured. Here we see
the blending of vision and mission together in
both local and world-wide evangelism. (Luke
24:50, Matthew 28:18-20)
